'Sansiri,' a premier real estate developer with extensive projects across diverse areas, stands as Thailand's pioneering real estate firm committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In parallel, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), a leading global chemical company, consistently pursues sustainability with an identical objective of fostering a better world.

When both organizations share the same goal, it leads to collaboration on various projects to make the world a better place.

The collaboration began with the launch of the "Drive-Thru Recycling Station" at Sansiri Backyard in the T77 Community, designed to encourage and facilitate Sansiri residents to properly separate their waste, including PET plastic bottles, HDPE plastic bottles, stretch plastic bags, aluminum cans, and glass bottles. Following this, the 'GC YOUTURN platform for post-consumer plastic management' steps in to collect, sort, and reintroduce used plastics into the recycling process through ENVICCO, a world-class standard recycling factory producing high-quality, food-grade recycled plastic resin, a company within the GC Group and its partner factories. This drive-thru recycling station serves as a critical starting point for raising awareness and fostering participation in waste segregation and proper recycling in daily life.

From the proper segregation of used plastics, the initiative extends to adding value through an upcycling process sparked by innovative ideas under the "SANSIRI x GC Fulfill Your Living Through Innovation" project. This involves transforming used PET plastic bottles into polyester fibers, giving them a new life, and ultimately turning them into textile products.

Moreover, Sansiri and GC have also announced a significant collaboration to establish a Green Society. This partnership focuses on developing chemical innovations that enhance lifestyle choices, creating high-quality, durable products like water tanks made from GC's high-grade plastic resin and eco-friendly decorative paints free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and incorporating natural ingredients suitable for interior and exterior applications. Building materials such as wood composites and interior and exterior decorative products made from recycled plastics are also part of this initiative. Moreover, GC has utilized high-quality recycled polyester fibers from the Upcycling by GC project to craft eco-friendly furniture in collaboration with leading brands like PASAYA and SB Furniture. These products are showcased in the show units of Sansiri's projects, further highlighting both companies’ commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

In 2022 and 2023, Sansiri engaged in the third and fourth iterations of the GC Upcycling Upstyling initiative. In 2022, Sansiri collaborated with Pipatchara to design an exclusive collection of luxury bags for Sansiri homeowners intended as gifts at the time of house transfer. These bags could also be used for other occasions, including a smaller version that could be transformed into a welcome gift containing various items. Importantly, the material used for these bags was upcycled fabric made from used PET plastic bottles.

In 2023, Sansiri collaborated with Fah Chak to transform recycled materials into innovative products, culminating in the creation of the 'The Mirage' collection. This luxurious Georgian-style lineup includes sun loungers, pillows, and poolside umbrellas, all crafted from fabric made entirely of recycled fibers. This initiative elevates the value of used plastics, turning them into new products under the Design for Sustainable Living theme. The collection was showcased and utilized at the Setthasiri Don Mueang project, demonstrating a practical application of sustainable design.

Beyond fashion items, this initiative extends to residential design. Sansiri leverages its expertise in home design, blending it with GC's proficiency in recycled materials. Utilizing materials collected and sorted through the 'YOUTURN' platform, they conceptualized the Upcycling Plastic House, focusing on practical living and usability under the project 'Upcycling Plastic House for Sustainability and Equality.' This project, a collaboration between P&G and GC, with partners including Sansiri, Lotus, and Habitat Group, serves as a pilot for recycling plastic to benefit vulnerable communities equitably in the future.

Furthermore, GC has collaborated with Sansiri to push forward the innovation of eco-friendly "green homes" by introducing GFRP Wiremesh or fiberglass reinforced in concrete with high strength, made from Epoxy Composite. This material is used as an alternative to traditional steel rebar. GFRP Wiremesh is notable for its strength, which is comparable to or superior to steel rebar. Yet, it is three times lighter, highly durable, rust-proof, non-conductive, easy to cut, and has a lifespan of over 20 years. Importantly, it is environmentally friendly, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 49.5% or 40 tons/year compared to conventional steel rebar usage.

Sansiri has utilized GFRP Wiremesh to produce prefabricated concrete fences, already implemented in over 40,000 square meters across various Sansiri residential projects, including Setthasiri, Anasiri, and Saransiri.

On the recent Children's Day (Saturday, January 13, 2024), GC and ENVICCO teamed up with Sansiri to create a booth to raise awareness among the youth about sorting used plastics and repurposing them. The event featured activities that transformed used bottle caps into stylish and multifunctional clips, showcasing the endless possibilities with GC YOUTURN at the 'Sansiri Backyard Children’s Day 2024.' Sansiri, along with various partners, transformed the T77 Community space into a farm-themed animal theater, offering a plethora of engaging agricultural activities for children, including fruit picking, feeding animals, and collecting fresh eggs.
