"Coke, think for the Earth” Campaign. Unveiling Packaging Crafted from 100% Recycled Plastic by ENVICCO officially for the first time in Thailand.

Encouraging consumers to return "Coke" bottles to create new bottles endlessly.

Bangkok, October 18, 2566 - The Coca-Cola Group in Thailand, comprising Thai Namthip Corporation Limited, HaadThip Public Company Limited, and Coca-Cola (Thailand) Limited, unveils packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, excluding bottle labels and caps. It is now available nationwide, starting with "Coke" in its original flavor and "Coke" sugar-free formula, both in 1-liter sizes.

At present, in more than 40 countries worldwide, Coca-Cola has at least one brand that utilizes packaging made from 100% recycled PET plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps. This initiative is evident in Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and, most recently, Thailand. Adopting such packaging aligns with Coca-Cola's global goal to promote sustainability, aiming to make "Coke" packaging 100% recyclable by 2025 and to use packaging made from at least 50% recycled material by 2030. In Thailand, "Coke" bottles made from 100% recycled PET plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps, undergo standardized production processes and utilize technology from ENVICCO Limited Company, certified for food safety by the Thai Food and Drug Administration, meeting the global production standards of Coca-Cola."

Mr. Sarut Wittayarungruangsri, the Director of Corporate Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability at Coca-Cola (Thailand) Limited, stated, "Coca-Cola is aware that the plastic waste issue in Thailand is urgent and complex. It requires collaboration from all sectors to address it sustainably. We are committed to help drive the creation of a fully circular plastic packaging system in Thailand. We are actively working on designing innovative packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps. Additionally, we are expanding packaging collection campaigns to increase consumer convenience. Furthermore, we are advancing partnerships and collaborations across various sectors. We believe that the strength of the Coca-Cola brand will encourage Thai consumers to separate waste, ensuring that used plastic bottles can be endlessly recycled into new ones."

Mr. Natthanun Sirirak, Managing Director, ENVICCO Limited, stated, "Envicco, as part of the GC Group, a leader in the high-quality and safe recycled plastic resin industry, has received post-consumer recycled PET bottles collected from partner groups. We process these bottles through various stages to recycling technology and modern production processes from Europe, allowing us to trace the origin of the used plastic back to its source 100%. In addition to meeting global safety standards from the USFDA, EFSA in Europe, and the Thai FDA, we are the first in Thailand to produce recycled plastic that can be used for food contact packaging. We take great pride in being part of Thailand's sustainable resource management solution for plastic waste."

Ms. Nathasamon Wongkittiphat, the chief marketing officer of The Mall Group, stated, "The Mall Group is a green retail company that focuses on driving the strategy of conserving natural resources and sustainable environmental practices under the ESG concept. For the official launch of packaging produced from 100% recycled plastic under the "Coke, Think for the Earth” campaign, The Mall Group is ready and pleased to support this project by providing a space to display the giant recycling bottle in the front area of Gourmet Market, The EmQuartier Department Store. This serves as a collecting point for recyclable materials and promotes sustainable packaging separation behavior."

In line with the commitment to promote waste sorting for recycling, prior to the launch of the "Coke" packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps, "Coca-Cola" has been encouraging consumers to separate waste and recyclable materials since the beginning through the "Coke Invites you to sort, exchange, and get lucky with Trash Lucky Campaign." This initiative has been running for the past three years in collaboration with Trash Lucky, an environmental startup company. The campaign aims to bring about behavioral changes, encouraging people to sort and separate waste that can be recycled from general waste. Over the past three years, the campaign has successfully collected over 700,000 PET plastic bottles with a goal to reach millions of bottles this year. In this year's campaign, consumers can send various recyclable materials without brand restrictions to 64 recycling collection points across Bangkok and an additional 5 points in Phuket. The campaign runs from July 1st to December 31st, 2023. Participants can join in the fun and stand a chance to win prizes sponsored by "Coca-Cola," with a total value exceeding 2 million baht.

The "Coke, think for the Earth" campaign, with bottles made from 100% recycled plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps, has extended communication to consumers through various advertising channels, including out-of-home media and digital platforms. Influencers also played a role in spreading the message. Additionally, there is a Coke bottle return activity during Coca-Cola events, where consumers have the chance to win prizes and VIP tickets to attend the COKE Studio concert and many more exciting rewards.

"Coca-Cola" is holding a grand event for the launch of the "Coke, think for the Earth" campaign, with bottles made from 100% recycled plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps, at the EmQuartier shopping mall, focusing on raising awareness and educating the correct methods of waste separation and recycling. The highlight of the event is that consumers who bring five “Coke” bottles for recycling have the chance to be one of the first 30 people to meet "PP-Krit Amnuaydechkorn” at the mini-concert. Additionally, consumers can participate in recycling by bringing plastic bottles, regardless of the brand, to the bottle collection points of "Coca-Cola" at the EmQuartier shopping mall and Center Point Siam Square. The collected plastic bottles will be recycled by Envicco Limited to transform them into "Coke" packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, excluding labels and bottle caps, for further use.
