Offering a one-of-a-kind and distinctive Christmas tree creation, particularly celebrating the festive happiness of welcoming the new year in a futuristic style. This year, Siam Discovery collaborates with PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) to present a grand collection alongside BELLYGOM, unveiling the 'Sustainable Living X’mas Tree 2023.' This creation answers the call of the future towards sustainability in every aspect, featuring the uniquely novel BELLYGOM, a renowned giant pink bear from South Korea, standing tall at 4 meters alongside an upcycled HDPE plastic Christmas tree reaching a height of 11.50 meters, showcased in the heart of Siam Discovery Plaza until January 14, 2024.

With a grand opening, the event is led by Ms. Naratipe Ruttapradid, Chief Operating Officer, Operation Siam Piwat Company Limited, Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and President, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, and Ms. Suveeraya Ansavananda, Assistant Managing Director, Strategic Partner and Corporate Communications Division, TAC Consumer Public Co., Ltd. , Mr. Lee Bo-hyun, Vice President of Lotte Home Shopping, and two famous actors, Bright–Raphiphong Thapsuwan and Nonkul-Chanon Santinthonkul, join to kick off the Christmas celebration.

This year, we continue our commitment to a design concept that emphasizes the principles of a circular economy, which involves recycling resources for maximum benefit, reducing waste, and supporting the use of valuable and sustainable resources. In collaboration with GC, this marks the 6^th year of creating a sustainable Christmas celebration featuring the innovative idea of designing and crafting a Christmas tree using HDPE plastic.

"Furthermore, Siam Discovery has created a phenomenon of spreading joy with an innovative global Christmas celebration for over 15 years. This year, there is an even more special addition: a collaboration with BELLYGOM, the trending pink bear from South Korea known for bringing surprises and happiness to people at Siam Discovery, featuring a towering 4-meter Christmas tree amidst the recreated atmosphere of the Belly Villa, the residence of BELLYGOM. The tree is made using HDPE plastic packaging in various forms, creating a village for the giant bear, blending the essence of Thailand with tuk-tuk vehicles, aiming to inspire people, especially the younger generation, to see the benefits of sorting and recycling plastic. Additionally, enjoy a special shopping experience with direct shipments from South Korea at the Loft store on the 2^nd floor of Siam Discovery," stated Ms. Naratipe.

Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and President, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, stated that GC, as a leading global chemical company, conducts its operations based on sustainable principles under the ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance alongside economic) balance. The company aims to grow in tandem with social and environmental responsibility, incorporating the Circular economy concept as a tool to address global warming issues. GC is committed to becoming a Net Zero Company with low carbon emissions by the year 2050, aligning with the goals of being a Sustainability Partner for the 6^th consecutive year. This collaboration aims to empower and educate the younger generation about plastic separation and recycling benefits. As part of the effort, the Sustainable Living X'mas Tree for 2023 is created using HDPE plastic, totaling 2,115 kilograms. After the event, the plastic will be responsibly managed through recycling and upcycling processes, contributing to creating packaging and various products and providing numerous benefits through the GC YOUTURN initiative. This reduces plastic waste and lowers greenhouse gas emissions by 2,181 kilograms of carbon dioxide, equivalent to 229 large trees.

"The process of recycling and upcycling to transform plastic back into valuable resources will not occur if plastic is not separated from the source. This requires collaboration from the public sector, as individuals need to think before using plastic, separate it correctly, and dispose of it in the appropriate manner to enable plastic to re-enter the system and return to create value. Through this initiative, we turned used plastic into a resource that benefits the community: a valuable upcycled Christmas tree, ready to bring happiness to everyone during the Christmas and New Year celebrations," said Dr. Kongkrapan.

At the event, there are activities such as 'Plastic Funtastic,' transforming used plastic bottle caps into DIY keychains, and the 'UPTOYOU Pop Up Store,' featuring upcycled fashion from used plastic, showcasing the latest collection designed by leading Thai designers, including Greyhound, iCONiC, TikkyWow, and Mamuang, and Pomme Chan. all available for eco-conscious enthusiasts. Additionally, a ‘GC YOUTURN’ is dedicated to managing used plastic," said Dr. Kongkrapan.

In addition, Siam Discovery is offering special things with the BELLYGOM pop-up. Discover the most stylish products directly imported from South Korea, available for everyone to shop as gifts. These include cute BELLYGOM dolls, soft silicone keychains, canvas bags, stickers, insulated cooler bags, socks, and much more on the 2^nd floor at the Loft store.
