GC refines the concept from Hackathon to innovate and enhance the efficiency of the Remoted Piping Inspection Robot system in factories, addressing issues and reducing costs
PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), a leading global chemical company, is revolutionizing maintenance operations by harnessing employee ideas to develop innovative solutions. One such innovation is the Remoted Piping Inspection Robot, designed to inspect various factory pipes. This robot can move through pipes to high-risk or inaccessible areas, sending back data for analysis. Its capabilities include detecting pipe corrosion, enhancing repair safety, and improving inspection efficiency in factory operations.
The prototype robot innovation has integrated GPT-4 Turbo to assist in summarizing and searching for relevant information received from the robot. Currently, GC continues to develop a new generation of robots with improved efficiency, such as longer-lasting batteries and more efficient propulsion systems.
This development represents a significant innovation that has been refined to the point of practical usability. GC participated in the Microsoft Build Open AI event on May 1st, showcasing the organization's capability to transform processes into digital format. This reflects GC's use of modern technology to benefit from this platform, reducing inspection and insurance costs for high-risk workers by approximately $1 million annually. Additionally, it reduces inspection time from 14 days to just 4 days.
