GC and ALPLA establish ENVICCO Ltd., Thailand’s first joint-venture high-quality circular plastic resin plant

Dr. Piyasvasti Amranand, Chairman of PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC, presided over the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between GC and ALPLA, a world-class manufacturer of high-quality recycling plastic resins, to establish a joint venture to be called ENVICCO Limited, at the Asia Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong province. Together with Dr. Amranand was GC’s executive team led by Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Chief Executive Officer and President; Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Operating Officer-Upstream Petrochemical Business; Mr. Patiphan Sukhonthaman, Chief Operating Officer of Downstream, and other executives who joined the ceremony which took place on September 4, 2019, at The St. Regis Bangkok.

Mr. Punmeechaow, said, “GC, as a leading petrochemical company committed to Chemistry for Better Living, recognizes the importance of the resource revolution in line with the principles of the Circular Economy, which aims to conserve natural resources and protect the environment. This coincides with GC’s more specific concept of ‘GC Circular Living,’ which we have incorporated in our internal and external operations. We are also increasing our cooperation with all sectors of society through different projects including ‘Upcycling the Oceans, Thailand’ which transforms plastic marine waste into fashionable collections; the ‘Think Cycle Bank’ which provides a better understanding about waste management to children and young people; and ‘PPP Rayong,’ a collaborative waste management project between the public and private sectors. This circular plastic recycling plant is part of our long-term strategic plan to support the Circular Economy, and reflects our environmental responsibility to reduce the use of single-use plastics. The recycling plant is also an important milestone as it will create a comprehensive value chain.”

This partnership between GC and ALPLA will encourage cooperation and enhanced operations across different sectors in society, from upstream to downstream, by adopting the principles of Circular Economy and supporting the more efficient use of resources.

The current partnership between GC and ALPHA will be Thailand’s first pilot project that manufactures high-quality recycling plastic resins, namely rPET and rHDPE. ALPLA has significant expertise and experience in operating recycling businesses across supply chains together with cutting-edge European technologies. GC can therefore be assured of an efficient management system and eco-friendly production and design that provides premium-quality, value-added plastics that can be reused and recycled. In addition, the joint venture will give a boost to local employment and a raw material supply agreement to communities in Rayong.
