PTT Global Chemical Joined the 2nd Asia-Oceania Algae Innovation Summit

PTT Global Chemical Plc. joined the 2nd Asia-Oceania Algae Innovation Summit (2nd AOAIS) and presented exhibition booths with research presentation. Dr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, President and CEO of PTT Plc., Prof. Dr. Makoto M. Watanabe, and Prof. Dr. Isao Inouye, Chairman of the Committee of AOAIS International Organizing Committee presided over the event on 3 September 2012 at The Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, Bangkok.

Dr. Sansanalak Rachadawong, Manager- Research and Development Unit 2, Science and Innovation Department of PTT Global Chemical, received an honored to be a guest speaker on the topic of Algae to High Value Products: Technology Trend and Market Potential. This was to expose the potentiality and efficiency of PTT Global Chemical researcher team in terms of the researching and developing the micro algae from the upstream level, including the micro algae plantation to achieve the utmost efficiency, also the complete use of the carbon dioxide (CO2). In addition, PTT Global Chemical researcher team also has developed the micro algae to the downstream level such as the oil and other substances extraction of the micro algae for example, carotenoid used as food additives, Omega 3, and Omega 6 with the expansion to the commercial scale. This is also the support of the Oleochemicals business of Emery Oleochemicals, PTT Global Chemical Group.

The 500 participants of the 2nd Asia-Oceania Algae Innovation Summit (2nd AOAIS) consisted of experts, academicians, representatives from the government sector, and savants from 11 countries who came to exchange their experiences in algae technology development, as well as to enhance knowledge and follow new technology of research and development of algae as alternative energy. This year, PTT Global Chemical, as the company with business expansion to Bio-based products industry and micro algae research and development project for high value products, co-hosted the event.
