Mr. Anon Sirisaengtaksin, CEO of PTT Global Chemical Public Co., Ltd. signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with executives from Ministry of Science and Technology, Chiang Mai University, Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), National Innovation Agency (NIA) and Ministry of Public Health on 28 September 2012 at the Ministry of Science and Technology. The signing aims to develop domestic medical devices made of bioplastics to reach ISO 13485 Standard (Quality Management System for Medical Devices), which is Thailand's first collaboration between governments and private sectors in developing comprehensive upstream to downstream medical devices. The collaboration included a development of resorbable bioplastics and medical devices, which can be practically utilized by trained medical experts. In addition, this collaboration will not only significantly reduce the cost of medical devices and a quantity of imported medical devices, but also for Thais to have an easier access to public health agencies' services and improve their quality of lives, as a whole. This is correspondingly in accordance with Thai government's policy to provide further support on country integrated bioplastic industry.
